Annual Leadership Lunch Reflection
Last Friday we hosted our annual leadership lunch at Gramercy Tavern with the topic “A New Frontier - Real Estate, Wealth and 401ks” engaging 18 heads of public and private real estate firms. We were fortunate to welcome Cathy Pena, Chief Investment Officer, Strategic Advisers LLC, a Fidelity Investments company and Jani Venter, Managing Director, J.P. Morgan and Head of the firm’s Defined Contribution (DC) Real Estate Solutions to help lead our discussion into a topic on every alternative fund manager’s mind – 401Ks.
Cathy and Jani gave enormous insight into the history of wealth and alternatives, the time horizon and obstacles for alternatives to become more present as a 401k alternative, and the preparations that fund managers may need to make to participate in this capital boon for the industry. We specifically spoke about real estate, its potential allocation (amongst “real assets” and overall) and why real estate is always a crowd pleaser in the UHNW and HNW segments.
We thank our participants and appreciate everyone’s commitment to learning from one another! Thanks also to Kim Hourihan, Head of Global Strategy at Invesco Real Estate, who made some incredible introductions with our theme in mind!
Sincerely,
